Outfit Post: The Utilitarian.

I haven't posted anything for quite some time and for that I sincerely apologize. My schedule has been kinda crazy and the weather has been rather blah so I didn't really have much to blog about. I did manage to take some photos of the outfit I wore last Friday. I liked the whole cadet look! I even wore a temporary tattoo because my outfit made me feel bad-ass. Hehehe! Some lovely things happened last week and I shall post about it soon. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Here's to an awesome week ahead...

Outfit Post: Long and Short.

After wearing a maxi skirt, I decided to wear one of the "shorter" skirts I purchased during my recent expedition to the mall. H&M had a bunch of really cute cotton skirts for under $15 so I bought a couple of them. Since I am not the most graceful or poised person in the world, I usually wear bike shorts underneathe. Sounds a bit dorky, I know, but it gives me peace of mind. Do you wear bike shorts underneathe skirts too?

My bangs are still trying to figure out what to do with themselves. They are kind of puffy at times and I have to tame them with bobby pins. I'm still glad I trimmed them. Now, I just need to get a proper haircut! All in all, my weekend went well. Had an interesting and fun day at work yesterday and spent the entire day today relaxing and sorting out my closet. I hope you lovelies had a wonderful weekend too!

Outfit Post: Maxing Out the Blues.

So what does a girl do after paying off her credit card bill? Go to the mall, of course! Actually, I was feeling rather blue so I decided to do some shopping yesterday. Retail therapy works most of the time! For some reason, I ended up purchasing a lot of skirts. It must be the vintage maxi skirt I'm wearing! Once again, I braved wearing a long skirt and I think as long as I wear wedges or platforms, it will be ok. I decided to update the look and toughen it up a bit by wearing my faux leather jacket. Of course, I used a woven belt to cinch everything in. You just gotta love those woven belts! Ah! It's Friday at last. I wonder what I will wear today?

Outfit Post: Prom Season.

It took quite a while for me to decide what to wear today. I was contemplating on wearing a dress but since I spent most of the time dilly dallying instead of getting ready, by the time I got out of the shower, I was already running late. Needless to say, getting dressed was a mad rush and today's outfit is definitely just something to wear so I don't go out in my pajamas. I think they frown upon things that. I decided to just go with the trusty blazer and jeans look. My lazy approach to look somewhat decent. I added some color by matching my belt with my brooch. The brooch just reminds me so much of Prom season. A friend liked my brooch so I gave it to her. I can always make another one. Btw, I know that the shoes are so off but they were the first pair I saw and I needed to get out of the door as soon as possible. I didn't even realize how baggy my jeans are until I looked at these photos. Oh my! Have you had days like that? If so, what did you end up wearing?

H&M's Spring Awakening.

I posted some inspirational photos from Talbot's line the other day and now I'm posting some from H&M. There is obviously a pattern... Denim! Denim will always be in. This season, I think ladies should have 5 key denim pieces: 1. Denim shirt 2. Denim jacket 3. Denim trouser pants 4. Denim skirt (anything but the usual pencil cut!) and lastly, 5. Denim shortalls. Of couse, this is assuming you already have denim shorts, which I'm sure you guys do! I'm excited to finally wear shorts again! The weather is slowly but surely warming up!

Outfit Post: Running Out.

This is what I wore yesterday when I spent most of the day running errands. On days like that, I have to admit, I really don't feel like exerting any effort when it comes to outfits. I just want something easy and comfortable. Hence, the really grungy Jack Purcells. They used to be white a long long time ago. I love them a lot and I'm very afraid to ruin them in the wash. Any tips for washing white sneakers?

On hair news, no buns today but I trimmed my bangs the other night. I have a love/hate relationship with my bangs but since it's behaving well right now, I'm loving it. As long as it stays flat, we're good.

Looks from the Past.

I was going thru my old blog, Old School Cool, when I stumbled upon outfit posts from the past. I can't really say that my style has changed a lot but it has evolved somewhat. It still very much depends on my mood and what clothes I have available. If anything, I don't wear my hair in a bun then as much as I do now but I think that's pretty much it! I still love bows and vintage dresses, blazers and trousers, and of course... Overalls! When it gets warmer, I will definitely be wearing my overalls again. How about you? Looking back, do you think your style has changed? Any style regrets? I'm sure if I go way back to my high school years, I would have a TON of style regrets. But what's past is past and thank goodness for that!

Style Files: Lyndsey Y.

What can I say about myself really, haha! Well, I'm Lyndsey Meaghan and I'm from a small town called Barnesville, Georgia. I grew up there and moved to Thomaston, Georgia when I was 11, and I'm hoping to move to Atlanta somewhere down the road! My job is to book and set up photo shoots for events such as fashion shows, parties, events, meetings, etc. I graduated from Penn Foster High School and I'm now signing up to get my Associates Degree in Fashion Merchandising. My interests include reading, photography, fashion, thrifting, drawing, poetry, designing, painting... Basically anything that has to do with art. :)

How would you describe your personal style?
My style is VERY eclectic. I love vintage and very modern pieces mixed together - Basically, I dress to whatever mood I'm in. But lately I've noticed that my heart is leaning more and more to the "boho" style era each day. :)

What or who inspires you?
Nature inspires me more than anything really. I love how seasonal changes affect my mood and my color choices. Especially fall. All of the warm hues and the earthy tones mixed with all the layers... Pure bliss.

What are your fashion essentials?
Oh goodness! I absolutely could NOT live without a black cardigan. I wear one almost every day! I also love great chunky jewelry, open knitted beanies, big funky bags, and a great pair of flats. Oh, and that one pair of jeans that fit you perfectly.
What is your favorite item in your wardrobe?
My favorite item in my closet right now would definitely have to be my black suede boots! Ever since my mom bought them for me recently I just can not get myself to wear any other pair of shoes. They go great with everything!

What do you think is that one key item every girl should have?
Red lipstick or a sense of humor. :)
Do you have any fashion tips and tricks?
Fashion has no limits. You are the canvas and the clothes are the painting. You make it what you want it to be, not what others want you to make it.

Where do you shop?
I am a HUGE bargain shopper. Clearance and sales racks, here I come! My top hot spots are America's Thrift (only located in the southern states), Ross, Old Navy, Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Gap. My friends think it's hilarious that I won't spend over $10.00 on a shirt but they're amazed at how much money I save them when we shop together!
